John Vernon Elam was born August 6, 1895 and died March 30, 1982. He is buried in Riverview Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.
John Vernon Elam married Bertha Marie Watson. She was born Sept 30, 1901 and died March 15, 1927. They had two children, John Charles Elam, Jr., and Laverna. She is the second child of Harry Arthur Watson and Mattie Alice Hill Watson. She is buried in the Harry Watson plot of the Mount Zion cemetery in Cowley County.
John Vernon Elam remarried Anna Mae Ramsey, daughter of John James William (Jim) Ramsey and Alice Gertrude Zimmerman Ramsey. She was born October 20, 1899, married John V. Elam on Nov. 3, 1927. had no children, and died April 16, 1995. She and her husband are buried in Highland Cemetery in Winfield, Kansas.

( There is no John Charles Elam, Sr. Dr. James attended the birthing and filled out the birth certificate. When he asked the name of the child he was told John Charles Elam. Since he knew the father as John Elam, he appended the Jr. to the childs name and filed and recorded it with the state. They never bothered correcting it.)
