Note: I have had trouble with this file. After studying cemetery record of Riverview Cemetery, it appears that Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Henderson came from Chicago in 1880 together to Arkansas City. At one time I thought W. M. Henderson was her son. According to the burial records Mrs. W. M. [Sarah M.] Henderson was born in 1850. Mr. W. M. Henderson was born in 1851. He taught school in Arkansas City.
Mr. W. M. Henderson might have been part of the group of men from Arkansas City who sought cattle in Texas. If so, it does not appear that he went to purchase cattle for himself but to assist the group he was with to get safely through Indian Territory. See entry below.

In the last three weeks some ten men have left our city for Texas, with a view to purchasing cattle: James Henderson, A. M. Smythia, Jack Gilbert, Harry Guenther, Lincoln Small, the Fairclo brothers, Bill Henderson, and Messrs. Tyner and Pond.
